Structural Engineer

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

• Operate in alignment with all health and safety requirements
• Promote Mott MacDonald to existing and prospective clients
• Conduct and assist in the structural analysis of technical information for engineering projects
• Produce complete structural designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments of various structural elements including lateral analysis of an engineering projects for concrete and structural steel materials under the guidance of a senior engineer.
• Work with a team of architects and design engineers of all disciplines under the supervision of senior engineers, team leaders, project managers and project directors.
• Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, etc. in relation to project objectives and targets, technical issues and problem resolution
• Provide structural engineering for the preparation of concept, scheme, and detailed design calculations, efficient technical reports, structural drawing markups and drawings for structural and multi-discipline projects to meet client requirements and authority submissions.
• Maintain ownership of the structural engineering analysis and design.
• Carry out coordination with all disciplines.
• Supervision of BIM technicians and checking of structural cad / BIM drawings and documentation.
• Ability to inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
• Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings
• Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with Company’s quality standard procedures
• Provide effective task and resource management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget
• Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
• Be able to present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical team members/stakeholders
• Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
• Strive towards attain relevant professional accreditation
  
  

Candidate Specification

• Bachelors’ Degree in Civil or Structural engineering; chartered status will have an added advantage
• Experience working in an international design consultancy
• Prior experience in engineering design primarily in building structures and in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity
• Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering building structures projects
• Experienced in using analytical/design software such as Robot, Revit, Etabs, Staad, CSC, RAM, Tedds, Prokon, Safe.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal for both internal and client relations.
• Previous experience with the UAE Building Industry. Design experience in the Abu Dhabi region is an advantage.
