Key Responsibilities:

• Read maintenance orders and review work instructions to pan work procedures, referring back to previous jobs to verify the similarity of the requirements.
• Perform various sheet metal forming processes using different material types for sheet metal cutting and forming machine tools such as mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel and other non-ferrous sheets at dimensional tolerances defined on the engineering specifications.
• Operate complex hand and power machines such as pipe benders, pipe roll benders, roll forming machines, press brakes, hydraulic presses, ironworker machines, riveters and a variety of TIG/MIG welding machines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams and schematics in order to accomplish sheet metal forms according to part specifications.
• Assemble parts and structures by lining and joining them through spot welding, bolting or riveting.
• Verify the conformance of finished machining using conventional or digital precision measuring instruments.
• Maintain equipment by completing user preventive maintenance requirements.
• Comply with all safety, housekeeping and environmental directives.
• Ensure all issued tools, uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is accounted for, maintained and secured.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
• Support other members of the Fabrication Workshop in fulfilling their roles.
• Perform other duties as required by their line manager and the Manager, Fabrication.
  
  

Experience and Education:

• A high school diploma is required, a college diploma or metal fabrication training certification is preferred.
• A minimum of two years of experience as a vehicle modification technician is required; in the manufacturing industry or in the automotive industry is preferred.
• Previous military or automotive industry experience is an advantage.
• The ability to lift, carry and push items weighing over 20kg is required.
• The ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings/schematics is required.
• The ability to read and use conventional and digital precision measuring instruments and tools is required.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is required.
