The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the property. This includes the maintenance, repair, and operation of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, as well as ensuring compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and Hyatt's global engineering policies.
The role requires a leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to motivate and manage a team while maintaining high service standards and guest satisfaction.

The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the property. This includes the maintenance, repair, and operation of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, as well as ensuring compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and Hyatt's global engineering policies.
The role requires a leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to motivate and manage a team while maintaining high service standards and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Conduct routine inspections of the property to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensure all equipment and systems function efficiently, minimizing downtime and energy consumption.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for the hotel.
- Lead, train, and motivate the engineering team to achieve operational excellence.
- Schedule and monitor daily activities of the engineering team to ensure effective performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety within the team.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repair work as required by local authorities and Hyatt standards.
- Ensure proper management of hazardous materials and waste disposal.
- Develop and execute energy management strategies to optimize resource efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for sustainable practices and energy conservation across the property.
- Manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Prepare and review operational and capital expense budgets for engineering projects.
- Oversee vendor contracts, negotiate pricing, and ensure high-quality services are delivered.
- Plan and execute engineering projects, including renovations, upgrades, and installations.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Promptly address and resolve guest concerns related to engineering or maintenance issues.
- Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction by maintaining a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in the hospitality industry.
- Proven knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and building codes.
- Strong knowledge of energy management systems and sustainable practices.
- Experience managing budgets and overseeing engineering projects.
