We are currently seeking a Senior Maritime Engineer/ Project Manager to join the WSP Maritime Team in the United Arab Emirates.

As a Senior Maritime Engineer and Project Manager working for WSP, you will play a pivotal role in the management, planning, design and execution of marine projects in the UAE and wider gulf region. As such, you should have a strong technical background and a passion for Project/ engineering management, coastal, marine structures and general maritime engineering.

You will be responsible for the overall delivery and execution of multidisciplinary projects and take a lead in the day-to-day interaction with our clients. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the management of project teams, deliverance of technical design work, including preparation of calculations, drawings, design report and tender documentation and overseeing the technical delivery of project tasks while maintaining a strong focus on schedule adherence, and quality control.

As part of the role, you will also be required to coordinate with other local and international teams, resource planning and provide mentorship to junior staff in the field of coastal and maritime.

Your new role, what's involved?

• Experience with design and site construction of maritime projects such as, ports, terminals, waterfront development and shore protection systems.
• Familiar with ports operations and topside designs and construction
• Project and engineering management of large, multi-disciplined projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget and perform work in line with client requirements and quality standards.
• Lead the project meetings and prepare the Minuets of Meetings.
• Prepare the project baseline schedule and create a WBS and baseline schedules in accordance with projects goals for maritime designs during bid or delivery stages.
• Conduct schedule analysis of project schedule interdependencies, variances, floats, constraints, risks, critical and longest paths.
• Interfacing with other Consultants, Contractors, Authorities, Third Parties and other Stakeholders.
• Ensure project documentation and deliverables meet WSP quality standards and implement QA/QC processes to maintain high standards in execution.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and project delivery.
• Cost loading and resource loading of schedules in line with projects’ needs and client requirements.
• Setup progress measurement system, produce S-Curves, and histograms and produce look ahead schedules.
• Support project leaders in providing monthly forecasts of resources and budgets such as Estimate to Completion (ETC), Estimate at Completion (EAC).
• Control the project budget and changes and familiar with invoicing and payments processes and requirements.
• Proficiency in using structural design and hydrodynamic modeling software, such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, AutoDesk Robot, DHI MIKE, and DELFT3D.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Manage site visits and conduct inspections and design life assessment .
• Oversee construction supervision, coordinate reviews of contractor submittals and support site construction projects.
• Develop comprehensive technical and commercial proposals, including methodology, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Mentorship of junior staff in the field of coastal and maritime.
  
  

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering, structural engineering coastal engineering or a related field.
• Charted or working toward chartership with the ICE or similar governing body.
• 10 years’ experience in maritime engineering and project management. UAE and KSA experience advantageous.
• PMP certification (preferred) or demonstrated experience in managing large multidisciplinary projects
• Familiar with numerical analysis modelling of coastal processes (mooring analysis, wave transformation and penetration, hydrodynamics and sediment transport).
• Familiar with CFD and physical modelling is advantageous.
• Good confident communication, with good writing and presentation skills and Strong client facing skillswith the ability to manage project stakeholders.
• Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to manage your own time and that of your team members to ensure successful delivery of tasks.
• Experience in technical proposal preparation and work winning.
